Here's MoMo!

Ok this is what I worked on this weekend!
He doesn't have his legs on yet, but they are done and waiting! The pattern states that the finished size is 6"x9" yet my MoMo is WAY bigger! More like 9"x12" without his legs! I used the same yarn the pattern called for and the same hook size and my stitches are pretty tight, so I don't know what happened! My boys think that he's a great ball to throw around the house though!!! I am giving it to my niece for her Birthday, so I hope she likes it!!! This is MoMo compared to a sharpie and his legs, scattered around on my desk!

I'm working on attaching them now! I'll put up pictures of him finished, hopefully tomorrow!

I'm back!

Ok my vacations are over for now and I'm back! I finished Andrew's orange blanket while in Yosemite (by lantern light mind you!) and got requests for more! Brandon now wants his blue and black but he said it's okay to use the white squares that I already started as well. Nice of him! Anyway I'm currently working on Brandon's blue & black blanket as well as this guy for my niece! He's really big and I started him in a lovely turquoise yarn that I had leftover but I will not have enough so I have to redo it now! Her birthday's next week so I have time I hope! My oldest turns 17 on Monday and we're having a party tonight. I can't believe that he's 17! Andrew LOVED his blanket by the way! Here's a picture of me in the cabin working on it, not a very good picture and I'm scratching mosquito bites since I was the feast du jour in Yosemite!!!

Here's a much nicer picture to look at:

Halfdome in the morning!

That's it for me, I will post a picture of MoMo when I'm done with him!

Off again!

Well Vegas was GREAT!! I haven't been there since 1994 and man has it changed! We had a blast though! I crocheted the whole trip there and got Brandon's 1st square done on his new black and white blanket! got a couple of white middle squares done as well. Andrew's orange monster is almost completed. I had hopes to get it done before leaving for Yosemite but I don't know about that! Christopher went to Mexico with my brother in law and kids and came back last night and is sitting in Palmdale waiting to go to Yosemite! I asked if he wanted to ride up with me and so I will be picking him up, probably tonight, and we will leaving tomorrow afternoon for Santa Rosa to get everyone else and head to Yosemite Saturday morning! Can't wait! I do have yarn ready for that trip as well but being as it's Yosemite and I enjoy the sites so much there I don't know how much I'll actually get done on Brandon's squares!
We leave Yosemite on Wednesday and all 4 kids come back with me!! My house will be a busslin' again!!
I leave you with some pictures of Vegas!
Starting our trip!

Wild Picture Wednesday!

Ok, I took a few pictures last night to play catch up! This is the stack of squares (minus 2) for Andrews blanket! Whew almost done! (they are folded in fourths)
I can't wait for this to be off my hook!
Next we have the current baby blanket that I am making:

I have started on the yellow, but I might frog the whole thing because I don't like the green...I don't know yet!

Here are the pictures of my recent yarn purchases:
Now I have no idea what this will be used for yet, but at a dollar a skein I CAN'T pass that up! I bought 4 (that was all they had)
This was on sale and I loved the color and the texture so, well I always need another scarf!
And now the Dollar Tree yarn...it is the Bernet Ping Pong in black. I will be using the red Fun Fur with it to make a scarf. I like the black base and then the "hairs" of red sticking out! It will be fun.
That's all I've got so far! I'm doing research to see where the yarn stores are in Vegas, if anyone knows any let me know!

Bad blogger...

Wow...I haven't posted since the 15th! I have been crocheting though and buying yarn! I bought yarn at the dollar tree, 2 skeins of black with a shiny black in it (I need pictures!) and I bought 2 red fun furs at Joann's to got with the black (another scarf for me!) I bought some fabulous yarn called Curious in a lovely color and have been buying one pound skeins for my cousins blanket in the Florida Gator colors. I also started and 4 color baby blanket for my brother and sister in law and bought some TLC baby in a beautiful variegated pinks and greens! I am currently working on Andrews Orange and Black blanket and only have 1 1/2 more squares to go before that's done (well not DONE done but the squares will be complete) My son Brandon now wants his blanket in White & Black so that will be my travel companion on my road trip to Las Vegas next week end and then I can haul it to Yosemite the following weekend!
All of my kids are now at their Dad's so I have a lot of free time (and quiet time) to get some things caught up and completed!

I will take pictures tonight of my new yarns and post some yummy yarn porn tomorrow!

Hey-hey

Ok well since I don't have anything new to post I thought, since I was washing it anyway, that I would post something old!
I started this giant granny square one day 16 years ago! I had some leftover yarn from a pom pom on a Halloween clown costume that I had made (the blue) and a teeny tiny bit from a scarf for my then 1 year old son, I started with that tiny bit and then added the blue and then found more leftover from scarves from my step sons and then the black. We moved up to Northern California after that and the WIP blanket was packed away. Well when we got settled and I had time to work on it, but didn't have anymore yarn to play with so one day when my husband went out he came back with a bag full of variegated skiens in a variety of colors for me to add. And add I did. I would buy a skein or 2 everytime I went and time passed and it ended up in a cute basket unfinished! In the summer of 2000, I had taken some time off of work to spend it with the kids and we were driving down to Southern California every few weeks to spend time with my family. I pulled it out and started adding again to it. I finished off once it would fit nicely on a queen size bed in July 2000!

Here are some close-ups of the yarns, nothing fancy just the cheap acrylic that I got at Kmart or the thrift store. The bright orange and the yellow that are at the edge are 2 yarns that I let my daughter and niece pick out, little girls!
