end of the work week!

I am super happy to be done with this work week.  I need to get things done at home and hopefully I can get them all done this weekend!

Still a couple more birthday items, more yarn which is always welcome and I really want to make a scarf with the Soleil.  Haha, it should be in the high 90's this weekend so not really scarf weather, but I might be able to get it worked up, it is cotton after all and it just looks like so much fun to play with.  The Manos is in lovely blues and browns and I really need to gather all yarns and come up with a wonderful idea to use them!
This could be fun.
Manos in fab colors
I have put some of my many, many BonBons to work making this tiny little cup and saucer.  It was an instant buy on the pattern and so, so easy to make.  Pattern by the talented Wink over at A Creative Being and yes when you click the link you will see that I have not yet made my cup and saucer into a ring yet, but it will be. I have worked up a blue one as well, but it's not put together nor does it have the ends woven in, so it's a bit to messy for photos just yet.  Since I have an abundance of BonBons, I think there are many color combos in the future.
My little teacup
This was also a birthday gift, it's a canvas bag which I am now using for carrying things to work, though it's huge and might need to be carrying yarn!

Truer words were never spoken!
And just because I love this new shirt of mine, seriously how could you not! Star T-Rex...still cracks me up!

Love it!
And a close up of  the Spock Dino...Live Long and Prosper!
I am very easily amused!  It's not even 1pm here yet...ugh!  Well at least we are out at 4 today and the opening ceremonies kick off the Olympics tonight.  Katlyn and I are watching only because what if The Doctor actually shows up?!?!

The joys of yarn

Oh yes indeed there are many joys in yarn.  I know for a fact that my dog finds complete joy in my yarn, which in turn does not make me joyful in the least!  Just when I think that I have puppy proofed all yarn, he show me the error in my thinking....please oh please let him grow out of this!!
Anyways moving along.  It is July.  In Southern California.  It is hot.  Like surface of the sun hot.  Now I'm not complaining (much) but it does make wanting to pick up yarn a bit of a challenge.  I have my True Blood Waterlilies blanket that I am working on and fortunately right now it is just small medallions, quite a lot of small medallions, but small nonetheless.  I finished up 34 pink ones last night (number 35 is already a completed square) and started on the white ones, only 28 of those, they literally take me less than 5 minutes to complete which is very nice so I'm hoping that after dinner tonight I can bust a bunch out.
34 done.
So July is my birthday month and for some reason this year my gifts are most randomized as to when they arrive, but hey it's all good...I like presents no matter when they show up!  Today I got these goodies from my Sister.  Lion Brand's new bonbons, in all the colors!  Little bits of yarn just waiting for me to play with!
All fine yarns to work up with a tiny hook :)
l to r....sparkly yarns, cottons and plain acrylics

Size reference
Also in the box were these two pretty N.Y. Yarns, now what to do with them?  Scarf? cute mitts?  So many choices....
Fall colors for sure!
Now if the work day would hurry up I could go home and play with yarn!

Warning...lots of pictures (no yarn involved though!)

For my birthday, my Daughter took me to Disneyland.  I haven't been since 2005 and was like a little kid in my excitement!  I took a ton of pictures and we had a blast even in the sticky heat of the day!   We now have annual passports and will be going regularly too, see I'm already excited for the next visit!  Now on with the pictures....not fantastic ones, because I was always hurrying and there were a bazillion peoples all at Disneyland at the same time as us!  We did arrive at 8 am and had about 2 hours of not super crowded time so that was nice and really, it's the happiest place on Earth so I didn't care because I was quite happy!  The heat got intense but luckily there are plenty of air conditioned rides to stand in line for or cruise around the park in.
Not forgetting where we parked
Tram ride from the parking lot.
Just inside, really should have taken a pic of the front, but oh well
When we went in 2005, we went as a large family group I think there was 13 of us in total.  This time it was just Katlyn and I, pretty cool when in lines for rides and you get to jump ahead because they are looking to fill the seats with parties of 2 :) I have a picture from that 2005 trip of Katlyn in front of Chip and Dale framed and told her we need to take another for an update, she was happy to accommodate me.
My how she's grown
2005
I do believe this will be our tradition for all visits, maybe even get the castle in a shot or 2 as well.
Donald has always been my favorite!
The clouds in the morning were pretty cool looking so I tried to include them a bit.
Tomorrowland, on our way to Star Tours
Space Mountain
I was using the Mouse Wait app that my Brother recommended to see line times and since Autopia had a relatively short wait early on, we thought we'd knock it out early.
In line for Autopia
I let Katlyn drive
yikes!

Looking for Nemo
Katlyn said she remembered it being bigger
After checking line times again we decided the Pirates being only 5 minutes was our best option instead of staying in Tomorrowland and headed over, quick trip through Pirates and on to the Haunted Mansion, seriously one of my favorite rides.  Katlyn was amused when I told her I remembered when it was brand new and there were television commercials for it, she just laughed and told me I was old :)
Outside the Haunted Mansion

Jungle Cruise with the best tour guide ever!
Waiting for It's a Small World, pretty dang hot at this point!
random picture
my camera wasn't having any part of this!
Toontown
Teacups, she made me dizzy :)
In line for Alice
I didn't take pictures in every line or of everything, but as I said....we are now Passport holders so I have time to get more!
While waiting for the Monorail
I did learn some things for the next trip....we can take in snacks and and a bottle of water ($21 for 2 hot dogs and 2 sodas is a bit much) I don't mind spending my money at Disneyland, but we were there for 12 hours and need more then a hot dog, I should have taken a small yarn project for the wait times in line and Katlyn said she should have brought her Kindle in with her as well, I will bring an easier to access purse, seriously I tried going with a small, keep everything to a minimum crossbody strapped purse, but all it did was frustrate me with having to take everything out to look for my little change purse with my money in it!  We have learned and also we didn't need a locker, we got one because I figured we would need  sweatshirts in the evening since we had planned on staying until midnight, but alas our feet had other ideas and we left at 8 pm with no need of jackets at all, plus I could have kept them in the car and saved the $7 on the locker.  The parking lot is a tram ride away and that's really not a big deal if necessary.  So I will save $7 on the locker and $21 from lunch and really only need to get drinks which while still pricey, a much better plan and of course the next time we are getting Dole Whips (the line was a bit long and since we were heading to an 80 minute wait at Splash Mountain, Katlyn didn't want to waste anytime getting over there)

Ok that's it for now, I best get to work this morning...it is Friday though and YAY for that!

Long time...no posting

Really so many things gone on since my last post, but not a lot of yarn work. Not only did the weather turn insanely over the top hot but my oldest Son showed up as a birthday surprise! So Friday night the 29th, it's a normal evening...other then the heat, but it is nearly July so nothing unusual with that. I go to bed and get woken up at 2 am by my Granddaughter coming in my room! Happy me!(well other then the fact that my house was not company tidy) We spent the next 5 days going all places including the beach.  Spent tons of time in the pool, Brooke is a little fishy and just had a great time together.
goggles and a kick board...in the hot tub :)

We went to the mall ^.^
Pool time again!
I have loads of beach shots, but they are on my laptop.  All of these in today's post are from my phone that I forgot about actually and must go through and get them on the computer!
Katlyn and Christopher on the 4th
I had a good birthday, I did miss my other boys but they did call me. We spent the day in the pool and bbqed burgers.
I got a new light fixture for my dining room from Alysha and oh how I love it!  Christopher hung it up for me and it makes the room sparkle!  Ignore the hideous popcorn ceiling it is attached to...gahhhhh I hate it so much and it covers all rooms except for the kitchen.  I should have taken a before and after shot but the before was not very pleasant so we can just enjoy the after!  Now to get rid of the popcorn....and the carpet....and paint.....and oh hell just gut the place and start over!!!  tiny, baby steps and breath
new lighting

And now back to crocheting.  I haven't done much at all, I have worked on the pink insides of my True Blood blanket and have about 5 or 6 left to do before moving onto the white ones.  Now I've had this silly idea in my head for a couple of weeks and last night I decided to get it out of my head and work it up.  No pattern, just me playing.

Isn't he cute!
Again ignore the messy fridge artwork area behind the cuteness, it was 9:30 last night and too dark everywhere else for a decent photo.
Also on my plate of things I'm doing is reading, I forget sometimes how fabulous it is to get lost in a book and A Clash of Kings is a good one for getting lost in!  I finished A Game of Thrones on Sunday night and had bought this when Katlyn and I went to the book store on Wednesday so I was able to breeze on into it! Now I must get the DVD to start watching the series.

Number 2
Tomorrow Katlyn and I are off the Disneyland, she's taking me for my birthday and I can't wait!!  Haven't been in a very long time and we are going to get Mickey ears and have a silly day of Disneyland time!  there will be pictures!
